TIRANA, Nov. 11 – Oppositional deputies in the parliamentary Security Committee addressed an official request to President Ilir Meta, asking him to publish all data gathered and reported by different institutions on the country’s war on drugs, in order for a more concrete picture on the results achieved to be painted.
More specifically, DP and SMI have also asked the president to declassify and publish security council documents of a meeting held last year.
The deputies’ request is backed by the currently tense political situation, pointing at the alleged involvement of high rank officials, like former Minister of Interior Saimir Tahiri, with drug and money traffickers and the need of the public to be informed on the situation.
Moments before the request was made public, a meeting was held in Lulzim Basha’s office, among him, Monika Kryemadhi, head of SMI, and the head of the parliamentary group, Petrit Vasili.
