TIRANA, Dec. 21 – Russian Ambassador to Tirana Alexander Karpushin conducted a meeting with Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Ditmir Bushati on Tuesday.

They discussed issues concerning the joint agenda of the two countries and the further strengthening of relations.

Karpushin has expressed in the past Russia’s interest to economically cooperate with Albania and increase trade relations between the two countries.

For example, in recent years, the number of Russian tourists in the country has increased significantly.

One of the remaining barriers between the countries is Kosovo’s statehood recognition. Karpushin, in a past interview, has said that Russia’s recognition of Kosovo is closely linked with Serbia, and that if Serbia recognizes Kosovo’s statehood, Russia will follow suit.

The meeting, which took place in Bushati’s office, was made public by the Russian Embassy through a Facebook post.
