Albania bans import of Chinese milk

TIRANA, Oct 6 – Albania banned the import of Chinese milk and dairy products and has temporarily suspended sale of the imported ones until necessary analyses are obtained by specialized laboratories in Europe.
Agriculture and Food Minister Jemin Gjana said that they had taken samples to European specialized laboratories to check if melamine was detected in the Chinese products that can still be found on the markets in Albania.
The authorities also said that some 129 tons of Chinese milk and dairy products had been imported during the first nine months this year.
