TIRANA, Nov 10 – The Albanian government has delayed issuing some 300 million euro denominated bonds due to the international financial crisis which has increased costs, finance minister Ridvan Bode said.
“We have projected issuing bonds in hard currency for a total of Euro 300 million, but we will wait for better times,” Bode said while speaking to parliament last week.
Albania issued its first foreign currency denominated bond in 2006.
The Government has said it will request international market to finance its investments in the country.
Moody’s Investors Service assigned Albania the nation’s first-ever sovereign ratings of ‘Ba1′ country ceiling for foreign-currency bonds and an issuer rating of ‘B1′ for the debt obligations of the government on June 2007.
