TIRANA, Oct. 29 – Twenty-one authors from Albania, Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia, The Netherlands have been invited to dialogue with each-other and the wider public, youth, students and those passionate of literature in the second edition of the international literature festival in Tirana “The White Sea II” which this year is being held under the “Literature in transit” motto.

Speaking at the launch of the event, Culture Minister Mirela Kumbaro said such an international event promotes book reading and integrates Albanian letters to the international stage.

‘Literature in transit’ which is holding events in several venues in Tirana from Oct. 29 to 31 provides the guests with an opportunity to discuss a series of topics not only related to the current literary situation, but also related to the position of the guest authors, the literary path and life experience of those who have been marked by the transition. This transition is reflected both geographically and in their literary process through language.

The purpose of this festival is to introduce transition topics and human fates in a dialogue with a public that has experienced another type of transition for the last 25 years – not the projected transition of the writers, but the real, political, and social transition, becoming an open forum for the authors and the public.

“Tirana Reads” has been conceived as an activity in motion that will travel through the city to its quietest and most artistic places, as all-inclusive, diversified and very original journey.

This activity aims to expand the readings and the unique pleasure of sharing with each other the artistic taste and the reading experiences, which will help in creating a relaxing atmosphere for everyone who loves art, literature and poetry, organizers say.

The activity will not be focused exclusively to the writers, but to students and literature enthusiasts. “We aim to turn the reading activity in an event, occurrence and evocation based on the artistic taste of every reader,” organizers say.
