TIRANA, March 2 – Albania has invited Iranian companies to consider joint ventures in Albania in production and export to the European market. The appeal came this week during a meeting Albania’s deputy Foreign Minister Selim Belortaja had with Masoud Khounsari, the head of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, according to Iran’s state-run news agency, IRNA.
Belortaja also appealed for an increase in trade exchanges between the two countries, currently at about $2 million. He said that Albania is a member of World Trade Organization (WTO) and by joining Iran to the body, bilateral relations could be facilitated.
Khounsari described the current trade exchange volume between Iran and Albania as unacceptable. “It seems that by dispatching delegations and finding out about each other’s capabilities, the ground for promotion of trade relations level will be prepared,” he said.
Iranian companies active in technical and engineering services are already executing projects in Africa, Asia and South America.
