TIRANA, April 12 – The Albanian National Environment Agency and the Italian Institute for Nuclear Physics signed a deal to cooperate in a joint project to measure the level of pollution in Albania, with particular focus on radioactive pollution.

The environment ministry said the project will produce reports on pollution in Albania.

“For years we have received fragmented statistics of pollution in a few cities of Albania, but this project will provide us with complete pollution statistics,” said Julian Beqiri, head of the Albanian agency.

President of the Italian Institute of Nuclear Physics Fernando Ferroni highlighted the importance of this project, saying Albania will be able to provide better monitoring through complete statistics, which will enable Tirana to intervene in cases of high levels of contamination in certain areas.
