Minister of Culture Mirela Kumbaro and Kujtim Shala, Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture, signed the protocol on cooperation in the field of culture, on February 15, agreeing to include cultural activities of the two countries within the joint calendar of events.
This is the third year Kosovo and Albania sign the protocol of cooperation under the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership between the Council of Ministers of Albania and the Government of Kosovo. “A bridge of communication, which works through public institutions, through interchangeable scenes, and through free initiatives. After three years we decided to recognize this reality institutionally by supporting it and strengthening it, not leaving it in the hands of fate, but including in our public cultural institutions organized programs in a way that artists can extend their stages, that managers can exchange their management experiences, and especially giving the public the opportunity to see productions that take place in Prishtina as well as in Tirana,” Kumbaro said.
Shala described the signing of the Protocol as a continuation of cooperation between the two countries in the field of culture with the aim of enhancing and promoting national culture within the Albanian community but not only. “The joint calendar this year once again aims to enhance and promote national culture within the Albanian territory, but also outside of it, and like last year, we hope that activities will be realized as a whole and provide opportunities for increasement of other cultural activities in the coming years,” Shala said.
“Culture people show that National Culture is neither a flag of nationalist fans, nor a woefully misused slogan. They have shown that National Culture is firstly a property that was born with Albanians and from Albanians wherever they are, that the opening of cultural borders and the expansion of audiences only creates space for its prosperity despite us. It is not a merit of ours, but our honor as politicians to recognize this cultural heritage, to support the people who create it, and make sustainable communication,” Kumbaro added.
