TIRANA, June 3 – Albania and Kosovo signed a deal Tuesday that unifies their education systems for the elementary and high school levels.
Both countries, which share the same official language for the vast majority of the population, will apply the same format 5+4+3 years for the nine-year elementary/secondary school and the three-year high school.
The deal was signed in capital Tirana by education ministers of both countries.
Students will also have a unified group of textbooks.
Authorities also said that the new system is applicable elsewhere in European Union member countries, thus making it easy for all graduates in Albania and Kosovo to follow universities elsewhere in Europe.
