Albania launches first experimental wastewater plant

TIRANA, Feb 02؁lbania has inaugurated its first experimental wastewater treatment plant for scientific research.
The unit, one of the first of its kind in the Balkans, is located in the small community of Sauk, 5km from the capital of Tirana, the public works, transport and telecommunications ministry said in a statement.
It will serve as a model for small residential areas of 500-4,000 inhabitants.
“Today we have a range of sewage treatment plants and we have planned another 15, which would serve inhabitants mainly in large urban centres, costing about 120 million euros, 70% of which will be supported by foreign donors and 30% from the state budget,” Public Works Minister Sokol Olldashi told the inauguration ceremony.
