TIRANA, July 12 – Albania has made it clear that tourism will remain as a main source of income to the tiny country.
In an effort to promote that Albanian Ambassador in Spain Kastriot Robo introduced the first Guidebook in Spanish for Albania at a ceremony in one of Madrid’s main libraries “Casa del Libro.”
The event was organized by the “Alhenia Media” Publishing House and the network of libraries “Casa del Libro.”.
representatives of the Foreign Ministry, Ministry of Tourism, members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Madrid, Spanish tour operators and members of the Albanian community living in Madrid took part at the promotion.
Robo said that after receiving the Prince of Asturias Award on Literature by the prominent Albanian writer, Ismail Kadare, last year, the publication of this book and its promotion was a very important step on introducing the Spanish people with the Albanian history, culture, heritage, arts and economy. This publication fills the existing gaps on previous information on Albania and Albanians.
He further stressed that Albania is an open country, with an increasing number of tourists increased each year; the development of tourism is a priority of the Albanian Government which has adopted the Tourism Development Strategy for 2007-2013, a combination of tourist development while promoting cultural values and preserving the natural values and environmental protection.
The ambassador urged participants to visit Albania, already a member of NATO and on its path to EU membership.
Editorial Director of the Publishing House Alhena Media Bargiela Francisco said that while noting the major changes occurring in Albania, he expressed his confidence that after two years the book would need to be reprinted
