TIRANA, Dec. 14 – Data published on Wikileaks shows Albania has been a transit point for weapons trafficked from Serbia to Yemen, The Guardian reports.
It was led by a Serb, Slobodan Tesic, which is also included at a black list of the United States. He still was in good contacts with Meico Company, which is the business company of the Albanian Defense Ministry for weaponry. They had signed some contracts together for export and import of weaponry.
Italian agency Osservatorio publishes a letter to the former Tirana police head in 2006 asking him to issue a visa for Tesic.
Tesic represented Melvale Corp. Ltd. Company, registered in Belgrade, Switzerland and Cyprus, in a deal with Meico.
Based on information from the Bulgarian intelligence service, US diplomats had discovered that a smuggled shipment of weapons at a value of $95 million. They would come from Serbia to the Durres port toward Yemen. The deal was signed by the government in October last year.
Tesic and his partner Sharenach Nenad have British passports but London said they did not have license for weapons business.
