TIRANA, Sept. 29 – Albania has taken over the chairmanship of the Southeast European Cooperation Process group of countries for one year at a meeting of the countries’ foreign ministers in New York during the United Nation annual 69th session.
EU’s Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule, representative of the Italian government, which holds the EU presidency until the end of year and those of the Regional Cooperation Council were present during the meeting.
Kosovo took part as a full member for the first time.
Albania will focus on strengthening the SEECP’s role in the region and promoting dialogue among its members.
“Albania’s chairmanship of the SEECP is an important political-diplomatic commitment to further promote our country’s role and policy in the region and more,” said a statement from the foreign ministry. Some high-level meetings will be held from Albania as part of the process
