Red and Blacks want Belgian-born ethnic Albanian star to play for the national team, but his native country and his new home want him too. He has yet to decide.
TIRANA, Oct. 8 – Manchester United’s young star Adnan Januzaj has officially been asked to play for Albania, according to Albania’s national team coach Gianni de Biasi.
The Red and Blacks want Belgian-born ethnic Albanian star to play for the national team, but his native country and his new home, England, want him too. He has yet to decide. Albanian media report that Januzaj holds dual Belgian-Albanian citizenship.
England football officials have said he should play for them once he meets the residency requirements next year. There have been requests also from Belgium, where he was born. There have been calls from Turkey and Serbia too. (Grandparents have a connection to Turkey, while Serbia still doesn’t recognize the independence of his parents’ native land, Kosovo.)
He is just 18. The youngster is eligible for several nations and has reportedly turned down multiple call-ups from his country of birth Belgium, whilst having Albanian-Kosovar parents and numerous other nationalities in his heritage.
