Albanian art scene loses Serafin Fanku, drama writer and actor

TIRANA, Sept.29- The well-known drama writer and actor, Serafin Fanku, has died in Tirana at age 70. He was born in Shkodra and despite a difficult childhood as an orphan, started his career in ballet and music at age 16. He excelled in the arts, winning the title of Artist of the People. He graduated from the prestigious academy FAMU in Prague for film directing and upon his return to his native Shkodra started working as a director at the Migjeni Theater. His 40-year career includes 125 roles in the theater and cinema stages, accompanied by many prizes and acknowledgements. His dramas include: ‘Pse”, “Shtegtimi nd철ankth”, “ȭurosja”, “Ftes롰철dark뢬 and others. Colleagues, politicians and admirers paid their last respects to fanku at the National Theater on Sunday.
