Albanian Central Bank increases deposits coverage

Tirana, March 02 — To deal with the international financial crisis, the Albanian Central Bank has announced that bank deposits will be 100% guaranteed up to 2.5 million ALL (about 19,300 euros) increasing its coverage margin by 7 times.
The current regulation in Albania guarantees to 100% only deposits up to 350,000 ALL (about 2,700 euros).
For deposits from 350,000 ALL (2,700 euros) to 700,000 ALL (5,400 euros), the law guarantees 85%, while bank deposits over 700,000 ALL (5,400 euros) are guaranteed up to 93%.
