TIRANA, Sep 15 – Next year all public tenders will be held online, according to government sources
The process has already started but all of them will be held online starting Jan. 1.
Authorities believe that such a procedure would lower cuts and save up to 200 million Euros.
That will also be another tool to fight corruption, or, better say, prevents it.
The online platform will be managed at first by Albania’s Public Procurement Agency, while in a second stage after the consolidation of the Agency for e-Government Services. It will be integrated with other activities run by that organization.
The contracting companies will register online, something which will make it possible for them to be notified in real time of a new procurement requirement by the administration.
The system also allows keeping them anonymous until the time their bids have been evaluated, avoiding any prior communication or potentially corrupt contacts between the would-be contractors and the contracting authority.
