Albania’s election commission, interior ministry sign agreement

TIRANA, May 20–The Central Election Commission and the interior ministry signed a co-operation agreement to ensure free and democratic elections next month. The ministry pledged to take all necessary measures to guarantee transparent and peaceful voting, in line with European and international standards.
The ruling Democratic Party (DP) and the main opposition Socialist Party published their lists of candidates for the June 28th elections. Prime Minister Sali Berisha, who leads the DP, told reporters the current government deserves another mandate, given its efforts on behalf of NATO membership and EU accession
