Albania’s fourth cell phone license gets bids

TIRANA, Feb 23 – There were three bids for Albania’s fourth mobile phone operator at the launch of the tender held last week.
Swedish telecom firm Tele bid 27.2 million Euros, the Albanian firm Univer P.G. offered 5 million Euros while Kosova’s Post and Telecommunication Company did not offer a concrete sum.
There are currently three mobile phone operators in Albania; AMC owned by Cosmote, the mobile phone arm of Greece’s OTE, Vodafone Albania and Eagle Mobile. In total there are some three million subscribers.
