Ilir Meta was elected as the country’s new president in a vote conducted without the opposition in the Albanian parliament. He received 87 votes out of the 89 present MPs who participated in the process having so the entire constitutional legitimacy as spelled out in the respective laws. Most important than all else, Meta’s personal political profile contributes considerably to the fact that his legitimacy and representativeness will be wide, and certainly wider than his predecessor’s.
