TIRANA, Feb. 22 – Albania’s armed forces have continued their operation to clean litter from national highways across Albania in the southeastern border crossing point of Kapshtica and areas of Tirana.
Almost 1,300 army troops have been involved in weekly cleaning operation of the main main highways in the country.
Authorities acknowledge that the view of trash across the country is bad for efforts to attract more tourists in its coastline alter this summer.
Authorities are also making calls to the civic organizations and the population to join in the cleaning efforts, with little success so far.
In another effort to improve the environment, officials have urged the planting of more trees in the country that has suffered a drastic cut of its forests which have resulted with negative impact in the country’s pollution.
