The Customs at the Port of Durr쳬 the main port of the country, are manually checking the goods coming in and going out of Albania as well as transit-ware. The scanner is out of work and attempts to repair it have failed. The local press (Korrieri, 16.03.2009) reports that experts from the Chinese producer “NuTech Company Limited” are expected to come to Durr쳠and hand over the problems. The scanner was donated to the Customs by the Chinese government, about a year ago.
The manual checking of huge containers and trailers will prolong the delays and affect the circulation rhythm of the goods. The final result is reported to be a temporary draw-back on the current monetary income of the Albanian state.

A similar scanner from the same company is operating at the Port of Los Angeles, USA, and was subject to different problems since it was put into use
