Basha discusses Albania’s membership, Kosova at NATO headquarters

TIRANA, Dec. 17 – Foreign Minister Lulzim Basha on Monday visited NATO headquarters in Brussels to discuss on his country’s hope of joining the alliance next year and also to review Kosova’s status process. Basha met with U.S., Canadian, Dutch, Portuguese and Danish ambassadors at NATO and took part at the opening of a photo exhibition there.
Basha spoke at length about Albania’s efforts to receive an invitation for full membership at next year’s NATO summit in Bucharest. The minister told the ambassadors that electoral and justice reforms were priorities in Albania, giving them concrete details of such efforts. The situation in the region, and especially Kosova, was another main topic of discussions. The ambassadors highly praised the country’s moderating role in the region, according to a statement by the foreign ministry.
