TIRANA, Nov 15. US company Bechtel, which along with joint-venture partner Turkey’s Enka built the Rreshen-Kalimash highway linking Albania to Kosovo, says it is interested in carrying out more road and railway infrastructure projects in Albania. Bechtel has expressed interest in taking part in tenders for new railway and road projects, including the Tirana-Elbasan and Berat-Tepelene stretches, said PM Sali Berisha following a meeting with Bechtel’s founder and CEO, Riley Bechtel.
The Tirana-Elbasan highway is considered the biggest infrastructural project government intends to build in this four-year term after the Durres-Kukes-Morine highway linking Albania to Kosovo, whose works were only completed last month after the opening of the second Thirra tunnel.
