TIRANA, Jan 12 – Albanian businessmen on both sides of the border of Albania and Kosova convened last week during the visit of Albanian President Bamir Topi in Prishtina to discuss how to better coordinate their joint efforts to increase cooperation.
Officials of the Chambers of commerce of Tirana, Prishtina and Western Macedonia signed a memorandum of understanding and cooperation to strengthen their ties.
Businesses will not only try to encourage economic cooperation but also seek to start joint projects.
Businessmen also discussed problems they encountered in cross-border business exchanges and ways to resolve them.
There are some 61 Albanian companies (2.5 percent of the total number of the Chamber) operating in Kosova.
Kosovar businesses also expressed their concern about whether they would suffer from an embargo from Serbia and Bosnia Herzegovina. Albania offered its immediate assistance to cope with an embargo.
