Renowned Chinese photographer Zeng Yi opened his photo exhibition at the National Historical Museum in Tirana on May 22.
Supported by Tirana Municipality, Pietrasanta Municipality in Italy, the National Historical Museum in Tirana, and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, Yi’s personal exhibition will feature 40 black and white photos. The inauguration ceremony of the exhibition was attended by important cultural figures, photographers, as well as painters.
During his speech at the opening of the exhibition, the National Historical Museum Director Melsi Labi said that Homeland exhibition comes to Albania mainly because Yi is a well-known photographer that has won many awards and his exhibition will attract a lot of international media attention. Considering the 40 featured photographs as a reflection on the past and the future, Labi hopes that “Homeland” will make many tourists curious about Tirana and increase the number of visitors.
“As early as Albanian artist Mr. Alfred Mirashi Milot offered me the idea to host at the National Historical Museum the unique photos of Zeng Yi, I was immediately overwhelmed with the desire and honor to bring his works to the museum as soon as possible. Just think about how nicely the history, culture, and Chinese-Albanian traditions will merge into one.
The magic that characterizes each one of the museum spaces will be covered by an even greater fascinating feeling made out of pictures and faces full of life of the simple people, showing us every emotion and deep feeling only by the light in their eyes,” Labi said.
Since 1980 Zeng Yi has conducted various lectures, attended academic activities and opened several exhibitions all over the world, including the United States of America, Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, Cyprus, South Korea, Taiwan, etc.
“A completely original world comes through printing a single moment. And this can be done better than anyone else by a photographer as Zeng Yi. This well-known talent in the art of photography, after touring in many countries around the world, arrives with a personal exhibition in Albania,” said Mayor of Tirana Erion Veliaj.
Homeland exhibition will stay open until June 22, 2016.
