Civic organizations urge more women participation

TIRANA, March 28 – Civic organizations convened Monday to discuss on how to promote the women to participate, especially taking into consideration the upcoming May 8 local elections.
Fifteen non-governmental organizations and the Union of Journalists signed a cooperation agreement on the gender issue in the country aiming at promoting it in the near future.
The project is also supported by the UN Women.
Zineb Touimi-Benjelloun of the UNDP in Albania said that the agreement was a serious step in the important project that is to take important steps in the next five years. She said investment in increasing women’s participation turns back to the society as a whole.
