TIRANA, June 26 – The Council of Europe’s Reporting Committee issued a draft resolution on Albania calling for political dialogue and an end to the opposition boycott in Parliament. “Developments related to local elections held on May 8th, 2011 revealed the fragile nature of democracy and the ongoing polarization between majority and opposition. The reporters intend to visit the country shortly after the final election results will be declared,” said the draft resolution.
All international actors have repeatedly urged Albanian political parties to bring an end to the deadlock, in order to proceed with further reforms needed for the election code and also the integration process into Europe.
