A ballet composed by renowned Albanian musician Cesk Zadeja will return as a premiere to the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet this weekend in Tirana 46 years after its first staging. The ballet will be choreographed by Agron Aliaj and conducted by Bujar Llapi. Enada Hoxha and Gerd Vaso will be the soloists starring in this ballet first staged in 1964 with Panajot Kanaci as choreographer.
Delina is a ballet in two acts telling a love story between Delina and two brothers. The ballet is the first work of composer Zadeja and the second Albanian ballet after “Halili and Hajria”
“This ballet has not been put on stage for a long time, and now it comes with a new viewpoint,” said choreographer Aliaj, who starred in the ballet 46 years ago.
The libretto written by Cesk Zadeja and Panajot Kacani has undergone some changes. It has more folk fantasy and has been stripped of the stereotypes of the socialist realism.
The ballet will be premiered on Friday, March 5 at 19.00. It will also be staged on Saturday and Sunday.
