The law also establishes a register of problem gamblers
TIRANA, Dec. 7 – Albania’s parliamentary commission on economic issues has approved a draft law that liberalizes the issuing of licenses for businesses that operate gambling establishments. The bill now heads to the floor of Parliament for approval.
Currently certain establishments are only allowed in the cities of Tirana, Durres, Vlora and Lezha, but the new law would get rid of those restrictions.
The law also introduces limits on licensing and prohibits the physical presence of anyone under 18 in the building and establishes a register of problem gamblers. People can be placed in the registry by family members or themselves. They would then not be allowed in any gambling establishment in the country.
The draft law would also increase the powers for the agency to controls gambling and oversees this type of business.
