Eagle Mobile has reached 630,000 customers in the second anniversary of its founding, the company said this week.
TIRANA, March 17 – Albania’s government announced this week it is getting ready to issue a fourth license for a mobile operator, two years after Eagle Mobile become the third mobile company in Albania.
Eagle has reached 630,000 customers in the second anniversary of its founding, the company said this week.
“In only 24months, the most youthful company of the mobile telephony in Albania, brought competition, broke the monopolies and offered the most contemporary services with the most reasonable prices,” the company said in a statement.
Together with AMC and Vodafone, the three cell phone companies combined have 4.1 million users, which is explained by the fact that many people own more than one SIM card. About 94 percent of them are users with prepaid packages and only 6 percent are users with contracts.
Eagle, part of ȡlik Group, says it has invested more than 50 million euros in the establishment of the technical infrastructure, wide network of shops, employment of experts in different areas and creation of an Albanian brand.
In the ceremony on the occasion if its second anniversary, Eagle General Director Ali Taskin said number portability and 3G technology are the most important projects that should be effectuated by the relevant authorities.
“We are ready for this technology and support the presentation of modern services that bring this technology for Albania and Albanians,” Mr. Taskin said.
He added the year ahead will offer more competition, innovations and surprises, where Eagle will continue to bring the latest technology, best chances of communication and best offers for the Albanian consumers.
Albania mobile phone penetration levels are higher compared with to the average in European Union countries. According the latest data, during 2009 the number of users per 100 inhabitants amounted to 129 percent compared to 119 percent is the average of European Union countries. On the landline end, only 12 percent of Albania’s population is covered.
