TIRANA, March 17 – A mission of experts of the European Commission came to the country to cover its entire scope of obligations.
They will stay throughout the week to closely examine the implementation of Albanian authorities as a guide for a liberalized visa regime.
That mission will be followed by two others that are then to report to the European Commission before it decides whether it is in favor of free circulation of Albanian citizens in Europe. That decision would ask for unanimous support of all EU member countries.
Albania has been asking for visa liberalization for its citizens in Europe. Issuing new identity cards and biometric passports has been a basic requirement that it is currently being applied, including the creation of an electronic register of civil status.
