TIRANA, Aug 16 – Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha hosted a reception in honor of the U.S. movie and television actress Eliza Dushku who is of Albanian descent.
Dushku was in Albania on a several-day visit planning to produce a documentary film promoting Albania.
Berisha also handed over the Albanian biometric passport and the ID card to Eliza Dushku who had made an application for Albanian citizenship and the ID.
Dushku said she was proud of holding dual citizenship.
Dushku held cordial talks with Albanian top officials on Albania, the natural beauties of which attract many foreign visitors, and especially about the country development and tourism.
Hollywood actress Dushku spoke about her impressive tour that took her to several towns from the South to the North of the country. Dushku is part of the project to make a documentary film promoting Albania as a tourist attraction, its history, traditions and potential.
Berisha said that such an initiative will make a worthy contribution to the promotion of Albanian tourism, which this current year the Lonely Planet proclaimed as one of the main tourist destinations of the world.
The government is making efforts to promote tourism like investment in the road infrastructure, new facilities for water cleaning, fiscal initiatives for tax exemption over a several-year period for the people who invest in the mountainous tourist zones.
Dushku has even proposed that she become the unofficial ambassador to the country.
