The Competition Authority will base its actions on EU practices for monitoring of the banking market and the financial sector in general, officials said this week.
The authority is looking particularly at the banks increasing their fees without prior notification for the customers.
“I want to emphasize the fact that they’re not doing an investigation, but monitoring the market, based on the recommendations given by the EU, so that the banking sector becomes more transparent,” Ms. Lati said.
The trend of increasing bank fees started last year, when customers were faced with a done deal, without having prior notifications by the banks. That move caused strong reactions by the consumers.
