TIRANA, Oct. 17 – One month after its inaugural display at the premises of the European Parliament in Brussels, the Euro-Albanian contact exhibition has travelled to Albania where it is being displayed at the Nikolet Vasia art gallery in Durres. The exhibition featuring 50 maps of Albanian territories in a 17-century period is organized by the opposition Socialist Party.
“Euro-Albanian Contacts” is the first exhibition of this kind displaying the cartography of Albanian territories in centuries, according to curators Artan Shkreli and Artan Lame.
Around 100 European publications on Albania, its tourism and culture are also displayed in the exhibition which in the next few weeks will also travel to Albania.
“Euro-Albanian Contacts” is aimed at promoting Albania’s positive image on the country’s 100th anniversary of independence.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony in the Durres public art gallery, opposition Socialist Party leader Edi Rama invited everybody to visit the exhibition which he said comes to Durres after its success in Brussels where many people were surprised to see that Albania still not fully integrated into the European Union had been in the middle of Europe much before countries which are today full-EU members appeared on the European map.
