TIRANA, May 29 – “Andata e Ritorno” (Departure and Return) is bringing works by young Albanian artists inspired by the topic of migration to Italy which in recent year has been transformed. “Migration to Italy now is not only for employment purposes but also research and better studies. It’s not only a one-way but a return ticket. When finishing their studies Albanian youth return to Albania and try to build a new and miscellaneous cultural situation based on the different vision and wider vision from their education in Italy,” organizers say.
Italian artists Stefano Romano who has now been living in Albania for years has been selected as the linking bridge image between the two protagonist countries of this movement which connects the countries with painters from the older generation such as Kol Idromeno, Zef Kolomi, Nexhmedin Zajmi, Vangjush Mio, Simon Rota, Abdurrahim Buza, Ibrahim Kodra, and contemporary artists Adrian Paci and Kosovo’s Sislei Xhafa. The second generation of Albanian artists travelling to Italy includes much more Eltjon Valle, Blerta Hocia, Iva Lulashi, Rudina Hoxhaj, Lek Gjeloshi, Dritan Hyska.
The exhibition organized by Olson Lamaj, Endri Dani, Remijon Pronja, and curated by Stefano Romano will be open in two galleries simultaneously at the FAB and Miza galleries in Tirana from June 2 to 9.
