TIRANA, Sep. 20 – Police reported a failed bank robbery last week.
Ajet Marku, 20, entered a Credins Bank branch in downtown Tirana and shot in the air with his Kalashnikov. A bank guard was slightly injured in the process.
But he could not get any money after quick reaction from the bank guards. He ran away and was later caught by police.
The perpetrator is considered to be mentally ill.
After a few number of cases of robbery of small amounts earlier this year, this was the first time that a person could not complete his robbery due to the reaction of the guards.
Police arrested two people Wednesday who had allegedly been trying to rob the Intesa San Paolo Bank branch in downtown Tirana. Police reported they were caught while trying to dig a tunnel underneath.
Taulant Troplini and Taulant Beleku had rented a bar near the bank only four months ago which they had used to start the underground tunnel.
