Farmers to receive $13 Mln in subsidies

TIRANA, May 19؁bout seven thousand farmers were qualified to benefit from a subsidiary program worth 13 million USD. Farmers will be able to finance different project as long as they qualify within the 3-7 thousand USD cost per project.
According to the head of the 2KR Project, that manages the subsidiary fund, said that “the fund from the Ministry of Agriculture, aims to support farmers and the agriculture sector.”
30% of the fund should be distributed within the first half of 2009 and the remaining part in the next 6 months. Projects included vineyard development, olive production, agro-processing, livestock growth, and more, and will cover 12 regions through out Albania.
This is the third year in a row such a fund is being distributed.
