KUKES, Aug. 11 – A fire in the northeastern district of Kukes threatened residents there after it sparked the explosion of shells likely hidden there since 1997.
The fire in the village of Gostil in Kukes created panic among the residents after they heard explosions from anti-aircraft 37-milimeter shells.
The firefighters withdrew after hearing the explosion, however, returned when local residents helped them extinguish the fire.
Fires in the country have been reduced, especially after the government hired airplanes and helicopters from different countries to combat fires from the air.
