TIRANA, Nov. 25 – A newly established multimedia center, the first of this kind in Albania, is offering free afternoon classes in music, dancing, painting and photography to dozens of talented compulsory schoolchildren in Tirana. The center inaugurated last month, under a Tirana municipality-funded project, is situated in the former premises of the Dajti cinema in Tirana, which had been abandoned and did not serve as a cinema any longer.
Visiting the center last week, Tirana Mayor Edi Rama described the new modern facilities as an open door to all of those who want to further develop their art talents, read and participate in debates. He invited artists, writers and teachers who want to share their experience with children to become part of the project, which he said remained open for improvement.
The multimedia center is also considered an opportunity for children and teens to socialize under European standards.
The “TEN” multifunctional centre has a central hall with a capacity of 130 seats which serves as a venue to screen movies and hold concerts.
Other facilities have also been created for children aged between 3 to 13 to exercise in painting and short theatrical performances.
Modern library, music and visual arts premises have also been made available for talented children. Hundreds of them are already attending afternoon classes.
