TIRANA, Oct 6 – In august there were less exports and imports compared to a month ago, but still the deficit deepened further, according to the Institute of Statistics.
In August there were exported 7,741 million leks of commodities, decreasing 29.9 percent compared to July but increasing 18 percent compared to a year ago.
There were imported 35,543 million leks of commodities increasing 21.7 percent compared to a year ago but also decreasing 5.4 percent compared to July.
In August the trade deficit was 27,802 million leks, or 4.8 percent more than in July and 22.8 percent more than a year ago.
Trade with the EU countries covered 57.1 percent and the main partners remained Italy and Greece. Export with Italy covered 42.6 percent and import 18.9 percent, while with Greece export was 10.2 percent and import 19 percent.
Other partner countries with increased export and import were: in export Austria, China, Croatia, USA, Turkey and in import Greece, China, Croatia, Macedonia, Switzerland.
