ASHGABAT, Oct. 4 – Former Albanian President Rexhep Meidani will deliver a series of lectures on international relations and politics at an OSCE-organized event that opened Monday at the Institute of International Relations under Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry.
Organized by the OSCE Center in Ashgabat in co-operation with Turkmenistan’s Foreign Ministry, the lecture series aims to provide insight into the workings of democratic institutions and processes as well as into the challenges of the modern world.
“It is an honor to have President Meidani as a guest speaker. I am confident that President Meidani’s experience and knowledge will assist the audience in deepening their understanding of developments and viewpoints in international politics,” said Ambassador Arsim Zekolli, the head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat.
More than 100 representatives from the Foreign Ministry, the Mejlis (Parliament), the Ministry of National Security, the Interior Ministry, the Police Academy, the Institute of State and Law under the President of Turkmenistan, the Academy of Science, and the National Institute of Democracy and Human Rights under the President of Turkmenistan, as well as the Institute of International Relations and Magtymguly Turkmen State University, will attend the series of three lectures.
Meidani will address topics including human security, legal reforms, policy and regulatory reform in the liberalization process, as well as globalization and international politics.
“I am trying to develop some new concepts based on my personal experience and on my contribution to international structures and activities,” he said. “I am always extremely pleased to share these concepts and ideas with others, particularly with young people and with the students.”
