TIRANA, May 10 – Images of women in the 1920s are dominating the solo exhibition French painter Beatrice De Saint Jean which opened last week in Tirana. “I have done research on these years and discovered that the ’20s was a period of freedom for women in the political, labour and child relationship aspects. It was a time of revival in fashion, artistic and sentimental life,” the painter told reporters.
The painter who has been living in Tirana since 2009 says she treats both the figurative and abstract in her paintings often mixing them.
One-third of funds collected from the sale of paintings will go to Caritas Albania to support a day care centre in Fushe-Kruja.
The exhibition at the Hotel de Paris in downtown Tirana will remain open until May 19.
