Oct 15. Fuel was cheaper this week compared to last by 5 Lek. Early this week, the price of petrol dropped to 140 Lek/liter compared to past week. The cheaper fuel is the result of the latest movements in the global market where price per barrel has fluctuated around 80-83 US dollars per barrel. However, fuel prices remain too high despite several government efforts to reach a deal with the fuel importers in Albania.
Given the current global market price and taking into consideration the level of taxation on fuel in Albania, prices should reflect a range of 115-120 Leks per liter say experts.
Global prices have been cut almost in half since June when price per barrel reached an all time high of 145 US dollars per barrel. Currently, price per barrel is as low as 80 US dollars and it is expected to drop still in a time when a huge recession in American and global economy is expected
