TIRANA, Oct 6 – While the central authorities have been involved in a series of good steps to cope with the recent power crisis in the country, on the other side, they are the biggest debtor to the power corporation.
The power distributor utility OSSH is in the process of privatization and a Czech company that made the only offer of 102 million Euros also said it would pay its debts and make other investment taking the total figure up to 420 million Euros.
But the OSSH said that the worst customer was the central government after insisting they had improved the money collection from businesses and private consumers. State institutions were still not paying their power bills in a figure of up to 1.7 million Euros.
The main debtor remains the water supply institution which only in September did not pay up to 200 million leks to the OSSH for the power consume.
OSSH also lost some 31.8 per cent of the produced electricity in the grid.
