“We are ready to talk about finding concrete solutions for issues that need to be addressed, which have a direct impact on the lives of our citizens and are of mutual interest,” Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati told the Greek president.
TIRANA, Feb. 5 – Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati made a visit to neighboring Greece to represent the country in a series of regional and NATO meetings, but also using his visit to meet and discuss pressing issues with top Greek leaders.
Bushati met with President Karolos Papoulias, Prime Minister Andonis Samaras and his counterpart Evangelos Venizelos.
Besides regional issues, Bushati spoke about bilateral concerns with Athens, including the joint maritime border, Albanian immigrants and others.
“We are ready to talk about finding concrete solutions for issues that need to be addressed, which have a direct impact on the lives of our citizens and are of mutual interest,” Bushati told the Greek president.
Papoulias, who has historically contributed to improving of relations between Albania and Greece said, “bilateral Greek-Albanian relations are of an existential importance for the region.”
Bushati was in Athens to take part in the 16th meeting of the foreign ministers’ council of the Adriatic-Ionian Initiative and also at the strategic conference of the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR), in which Albania is a member.
