Higher index of retail trade end of 2008

TIRANA, April 6 – The Institute of Statistics showed that the turnover of the country’s retail trade continues to increase.
The volume index of turnover on retail trade in the fourth quarter of 2008 has resulted in 184.4 percent against (2005=100). Compared with the same quarter of previous year, the value of the volume index of turnover in the fourth quarter increased by 20.1 percent. While compare to the previous quarter it increased 2.5 percent.
In the group “Non – specialized store with food, beverages, tobacco” volume index of turnover in the fourth quarter of 2008 increased by 1.7 percent compared to the previous quarter.
In the group “Total sale and repair of motor vehicles” the volume index increased 24 percent compared to the previous quarter.
Within “Total sale and repair of motor vehicles” and in the group “Retail sale of automotive fuel” the volume index of turnover in the fourth quarter of 2008 increased by 23.2 percent compared to the previous quarter.
The employment index on “Retail trade” in the fourth quarter resulted in 174.5 percent against (2005=100). That index increased by 19 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
In “Sale and repair of motor vehicles” the index resulted in 159.6 percent against (2005=100) signing an increase of 3.3 percent against the same period of the previous year.
