SHKODRA, Oct. 20 – Hungarian embassy in Albania and a group of Albanian veterans in the revolution who have graduated in Hungary, members of the Hungarian anti-communist revolution of 1956, held a commemoration ceremony in the Albanian northern city of Shkodra. Ambassador Sandor Szabo said they chose the town of Shkodra to remember that date “because the history of this city is closely linked with the fight against communism and that the greatest communist persecutions were held at this city that never agreed with its principles.” “Albanian students studying in Hungary 50 years ago became active members of the anti-communist fight and were at the first ranks of the demonstrators,” said Thoma Dardeli, one of them, now head of the Albanian Hungarian friendship association.
