Italian opera I Capuleti e i Montecchi by Vincenzo Bellini will premiere at the National Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Tirana on March 20, 2016 from 19:00 to 21:00. Directed by SwissTurkish Ailyn Bozok, the play will continue to stage on March 24, 26, and 27. Based on Felice Romani’s libretto which was a reworking of Romeo and Juliet story by Nicola Vaccai based on Luigi Scevola’s 1818 play of the same name, the tragedy will have two acts.
The orchestra will be directed by Elda Laro, who has also led the orchestra of Carmina Burana opera, and will have Taulant Pustina as stage designer. First performed at the Teatro alla Canobbiana, Milan on October 31, 1825 the opera continued premiering in Barcelona on May 26, 1827, in Paris on September 11, 1827, in London on April 10, 1832, etc. The opera tells the tragic love story between Romeo and Juliet as well as their families’ enmity that led to the death of the two main characters.
