TIRANA, Oct. 9 – Dozens of Albanian and international artists have together in Albania as part of the “Informal Mind” exhibition promoting contemporary art in all its disciplines by creating a meeting point between the artists and the audience. The exhibition scheduled for October 10 to 15 will be held in two venues part of the communist regime’s heritage such as the ruins of the former steel plant in Elbasan and the pyramid building in Tirana, a former mausoleum of Stalinist ex-dictator Enver Hoxha.
“The Informal Mind project provides the opportunity of a creative lab within neglected spaces such as that of the former steel plant in Elbasan which has now completely degraded. The selection of this space which has inspired all shortlisted artists confirms arts’ regenerating force toward history and the future,” says the M.A.M foundation which is organizing the event.
The exhibition is also aimed at raising awareness on the renovation of the ruined former communist buildings and turn them into social and art spaces.
Meanwhile, Kosovo artists Sislej Xhafa is being featured with the “I forgot that I started” event which includes an art performance at the pyramid building in Tirana and an installation at the front garden of the ex-dictator’s villa in the Bllok area.
